Indoor house plants
A plant that grows inside an office or house is called a houseplant.
Many people buy
houseplants to either decorate a space or for health reasons, like
purifying the air. These types of plants are usually tropical or
semi-tropical. The common names of most houseplants can be misleading
due to the fact that they are often called by a slang name.
Those houseplants that need the least amount of care are sometimes the
easiest ones to grow. A cactus plant is a good example because it can
go for a longer period of time without needing water. There are several
kind of smaller cactuses that can easily be planted in terra cotta with
rocks for an easy display. Philodendrons, shamrocks and ivy are other
houseplants that are easy to grow.
If you want a tropical look and feel in a space, there are several
tropical plants that can grow inside with direct sunlight. These plants
include rubber trees, palms, birds of paradise and ginger plants. A
window that faces the south direction is best for these plants.
Orchids, both very beautiful and graceful, are also tropical
houseplants. They do require warm and humid places and are better for a
more experience owner.
Houseplants that are easy to grow can be quite useful. An aloe vera
plant can be used to treat burns and cuts. This plant can be grown in a
sunny window or warm bathroom. Once the tip of the plant is pinched
off, a cooling gel can be found inside for ailments.
Houseplants also include culinary herbs and can be grown successfully
indoors. Sage, oregano, parsley, rosemary, thyme and chives are all
herbs that are easy to grow. It is very nice to have a fresh supply of
herbs in the kitchen while you are cooking.
